Finance Partner

A template agent that learns your finance routine first, then takes on the recurring work with your approval.

Understands how your finances run, then keeps the books moving. The Finance Partner is a template: an agent you start from, that interviews you before it does anything, and that earns each recurring job by showing you a result first.

Steps

  1. Start it. Open Agents, choose the Templates tab, and select Use it on Finance Partner. A chat opens with the agent.
  2. Answer the interview. It asks what the finance work is here: when you close, what the books live in (Drive spreadsheets, an accounting system, a Database), where invoices and receipts arrive, who approves spend, and who signs off the close. It writes the answers into its own instructions so it never asks twice.
  3. See one result. Ask for something small and checkable: "List the invoices received this month that are not yet in the ledger" or "Draft the month-end checklist from how we closed last time". Read it, correct it, and tell it what it got wrong.
  4. Accept the first job. Once you have seen a result you trust, it proposes one job: a weekly ledger check, a close checklist on the first working day, a reminder to whoever owes a sign-off. The job starts off. Turn it on from the agent's About tab when you are ready.
  5. Grow it. Add jobs one at a time. Pair it with the Invoice Reconciler for matching and Weekly Numbers for the Monday page.

What waits for your approval

Writing to your books, posting a journal entry, paying or marking anything as paid, sending an email to a vendor or a colleague, and changing a record in a connected system always stop at an approval card. Reading, matching, drafting, and listing happen on their own.

Limits

  • It knows what you connected. A ledger in an unconnected system is invisible to it; export or sync it first.
  • Bank feeds and accounting platforms such as Xero or QuickBooks are not connected sources yet. Work from exports, Drive files, or a Database for now.
  • It does not give tax or accounting advice. It applies the rules you give it.
  • A job runs only for members who turned the agent on and have the accounts it needs.

Make it yours or share it

Write Personalization notes on its About tab for how you like things: "flag anything over 5,000 to me", "amounts in euros". To change it for the whole team, edit its Instructions. Share it from Settings → Access so colleagues can turn it on; its jobs then run for each of them with their own accounts. Duplicate gives you a copy to take in a different direction.
