Spaces
A Space keeps one effort's chats, Tasks, files, routines, goals, and team in one place.
A Space is people and agents working toward goals. It holds the chats, Tasks, files, routines, and instructions for one effort, and everyone in it sees the same work. Use one per project, team, or ongoing responsibility: a customer rollout, a hiring round, the monthly close.
Steps
- Create it. Open Spaces in the sidebar and choose New Space. The dialog has one field, Name, for example "Customer rollout". Select Create Space. You become its manager and land on its home.
- Describe it and set a goal. The name and description at the top edit in place. In the rail, Goals holds one or more goals, each with a statement, how it is measured, and a target, for example "First reply within two hours". A goal can name a saved query so its figure comes from real data.
- Add the team. Team lists the agents working here and the people with access. Add opens the members dialog, where you add people or groups and pick the Space's default agent. Instructions tells any agent how to work in this Space.
- Start from an outcome. An empty Space shows three starter sentences, such as "Close the books by the fifth working day of each month". Choose one or type your own in the composer, Ask in {name}…. The agent interviews you, proposes goals, instructions, and routines, and makes each change through an approval card.
- Work the home. Once there is work, the home shows Suggestions (with Run, Discuss, Add to Tasks, and Dismiss), Waiting on you for decisions parked on you, Tasks with an inline Add a task… field, and the threads. Sending from the composer opens the thread with the Space beside it.
What waits for your approval
Changes an agent makes to goals, instructions, membership, or routines go through approval cards. A routine the agent proposes starts off, and you turn it on after a dry run. Your own edits on the home, such as the description or a goal in the dialog, save directly. Decisions in a Space belong to the person whose action it is; others see the card but cannot decide it.
Limits
- A Space is a pointer to shared work, not a vault. Connected accounts stay personal: your Gmail works in a shared chat for you, never for a colleague.
- A Space can be deleted only while it has no chats, documents, Tasks, Databases, or routine destinations. Leaving is always possible; your contributions stay.
- A chat can be moved into a Space once, and not back out.
- Suggestions and the daily goal review need at least one goal and some work before they say anything.
- There is no org chart or nested Spaces. Spaces are flat.
